  • Cultural Competent Health Care

Building a more equitable healthcare system.

    The Impact

Cultural competency is essential to delivering high-quality patient care. It reflects how well health care providers and professionals can serve patients from different backgrounds and cultures, which in turn will meet the unique needs of diverse populations within a community.

The ability to provide this type of care significantly impacts the goal of reducing health disparities.

Check out the American Hospital Association's guide to becoming a culturally competent health care organization.

  • Racial Bias in Medicine

The pain of black patients is underestimated by

their physicians at nearly twice the rate of

    that of non-black patients.

As a result, black Americans are undertreated for

pain relative to their white counterparts.

Proceedings of the National Academy of Science

    Maternal Mortality Rate

According to the CDC, approximately 658 women in the U.S.

died from pregnancy-related causes in 2018.

Black American women are twice as likely to die from

pregnancy-related causes than White American women.

    Cancer Disparities

Black people in America face a greater burden of cancer than any other group.

They also have the lowest survival rate

    for most cancers.

    Black Young Adults

    Chronic Illnesses

Research shows that young Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by many chronic diseases that are more prevalent among older White Americans.

    ASD Disparities

Black children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were diagnosed on an average of more than three years after their parents expressed concerns about their development.

  • CLOSING THE GAP

    Health is for everyone.

The soulWELL project is a healthy lifestyle initiative created to inform and educate on how changes in a person's diet and lifestyles can help improve individuals' health and the communities they live in.

As Wyntersweet Entertainment is spreading awareness on living a healthier, fuller life through the soulWELL project, we are also shedding light on one of the major causes of health problems in America: RACISM.
